Aluminium-housed power resistors for direct use with Akrodyn brake choppers, sized for your system voltage and braking power.

Every brake chopper requires a precisely dimensioned power resistor that converts the regenerative energy into heat. Resistors with too low a value overload the circuit; resistors with too high a value dissipate too little power and cannot adequately relieve the bus. Akrodyn offers matched aluminium-housed power resistors for all brake chopper variants, individually or as a set.

Standard resistance values per power class: 0.25 Ω · 0.5 Ω · 1 Ω · 2 Ω · 3 Ω · 10 Ω · 30 Ω · 60 Ω · 100 Ω. The resistance value is encoded directly in the SKU (example: AK-RES-500W-0R50 = 500 W, 0.5 Ω). Other resistance values available on request. For operation above 80 % of rated power, please observe the derating curve.
